Tip of the Week: Pain Fuels the Passion!

So often I am asked where I find inspiration. My interpretation of love and environments stems from a vast number of life occurrences but it is always through a deep piercing within my heart. I recently discovered the masterfully accomplished artist Tim Cantor as my BFF and I strolled through boutiques and art galleries in Sausalito on a brisk Sunday afternoon. The work of Tim Cantor is overwhelmingly distinctive, compelling, and powerful. His luxuriant utilization of color is captivating to say the least. It is magical with an enchanting beauty that allows one to deeply connect with the imagery. Underneath this imagery lies a deep story that seems to capture feelings of peace, sorrow, loss, failure, triumph, tragedy and pure honesty.

Tip of the Week: Retro Remix!

When I started designing my new invitation collection, I knew one suite in the collection would reflect my love for retro pop art. In my interior work, nostalgic textile patterns and wallpapers with an updated modern flair from designers such as Osborne and Little and Flavor Paper have found a place in many of my environmental interpretations. I was compelled to extrapolate renditions of these motifs into a wedding stationery ensemble. The Lingering Love Suite started with inspiration from the curvaceous lines of delicate antique perfume bottles and the geometric lines in a Chopard watch with a hidden abstract heart embedded in the design as a symbol of my love. As I studied the elements, bold colors screamed for recognition.

Tip of the Week: First Impressions!

The initial greeting when someone walks into your space will likely some up their thoughts of you in 30 seconds. Some spaces exude passion, others conservatism and some even leave you questioning – so exactly what do they do here? The communal areas are one of my favorite spaces to design in commercial projects for they are so much more than a waiting room with seating – therein lays my unique opportunity to drive home the interpretation of their story. This Casino Royale chandelier from Kravitz Design and Swarovski demonstrates this organizations keen eye for style and unmatched commitment to excellence.

Tip of the Week: Werk It!

Since Beyonce proclaimed herself Sasha Fierce, women have openly began adopting alter-ego’s and sharing them with the world.  Since Junior High School, my alter ego was Sasha – Sasha was fearless, feisty and determined.  She could leap tall buildings, crash and burn and rise again to keep pressing towards a new day and a bigger dream.  Well when I realized that Beyonce also had a ‘Sasha’ the game changed and […]

Tip of the Week: Step to Me!

My daughter Riann lives in a gorgeous loft apartment Downtown LA near her college campus, FIDM.  Her building is owned by Kor Group and all of the communal areas are under renovation by none other than Kelly Wearstler.  On a recent visit I was astounded by the newly laid marble in the main lobby.  I’m sure you will agree that Carrera marble is dazzling although commonly used but it was […]

Tip of the week: The Gateway to the Heart & Soul!

I’m sure most have heard the expression – ‘the eyes are the gateway to the soul’. Well in this same vein, I believe that the eyes are the gateway to the heart and soul of a woman in love, a residence screaming for rejuvenation and ultimately the secrets that a designer uses to interpret the nucleus of any design project. The eye of this abalone lion was used to elucidate the core for a private bar in a gentleman’s home and so much more. It told the story of his resilience as a young man and now a successful business man; it reflected the image of his own father and remains a symbolism of his authority over his own destiny!

Tip of the Week: Flowers are Fashion!

Flowers inspire the design world with immense intensity. This grower is simply nurturing a crop that will be disbursed into the world for a plethora of interpretation. As this add depicts, “the keukenhof flower park is like a long-stemmed version of Fashion Week”. However, there are so many more designers that used buds of glory to define entire collections.

Tip of the week: Destined to Dazzle!

It has been years since any of my clients have requested a traditional head table. So many are opting to share that intimate dinner with their new spouse and I love it. Sweetheart tables are wonderful design opportunities that call for special attention. Custom Bisazza tile tabletops, lush Italian fabrics and ultra-fabulous chairs.

Tip of the week: Ethereal or Just Plain Pretty?

There have been times in my career when I am so captivated by a couple’s wedding ceremony that it brings me to tears. Although I pride myself in being the super Producer and Design Maven, I never miss a wedding ceremony. I am always confident that it is going to be gorgeous and ensue lots of oohs and ahs but it is the unspoken language that moves me beyond words. Moments like when DeLeon Sheffield reached the baptismal font in the middle of her aisle and look to heaven as a beam of light met her eyes and escorted her to her man.
