A Basketball Wife Becomes An Official Football Wife!

One of the highpoints of my summer was designing and producing the international wedding of Evelyn Lozada and Chad Ochocinco.  We devoted a lot of time together perfecting the details of her opulent nuptials and I had the opportunity to ascertain her as more than a bridesmaid in Jennifer Williams wedding or the feisty Puerto Rican bombshell on Basketball Wives.  We laughed and cried together and I can attest to why so many fans love her.  She wears her heart on her sleeve, honest with her emotions and present to every moment in her life. She puts tremendous value on loyalty and lives her life unapologetically to the fullest and somehow gives us all permission to do the same.

Ev and Ocho premieres on September 3rd on vh1 and everyone will get a chance to see how hard the DVLW team worked to respectfully interpret this brown girls love story.  Until then, here is a glimpse of the day when a basketball wife became a football wife!

The question challenged us to be honest and present, so here goes: I am a Diann Valentine devotee, but I declined to comment when I saw this post in my email last week. I have my own take on many aspects of the “Ev/Ocho” union, (and their on air behaviors as individuals)which I felt were better kept to myself. The recent domestic squabble speaks for itself, as did their instant on-air “intimacies”. I never saw this turning out well, but even I was a little surprised at how quickly things soured between these two. Evelyn was supposedly done with athletes, until this millionaire showed up. Chad expressed his preference for non-Black women on the air. Both, we know, are quite violent. I know business is business, but I love the DV brand for standing for something so much more than this. A passion for money, fame, skin shades, and noteriety does not make a love union. Passion and loyalty have nothing to do with the behaviors these two exhibited before and after the wedding. i’m sure it was a pretty affair, but I just don’t see this and the DV brand even being aligned.
