A great afternoon at the Famous G Garvin’s Restaurant in Los Angeles for a group of lovely fashionistas as they celebrated a forthcoming celebrity ‘I Do’ day. We bought out G’s Restaurant so the ladies could have some privacy during their bonding time. We placed many of the tables together to create larger vignettes of communal seating. Glass holders filled with colored water and one purple Cataleya orchid filled the ceiling and hung low over each table. Crushed glass was shaped by hand to establish edgy and creative placemats for each girl while miniature perfume bottles and a touch of warm milk chocolate doubled as placecards!

Oh, to be young, rich and in love in Hollywood!

Kiki & Hadi were married on June 8, 2008 in Sausalito, Northern California at the Sausalito Presbyterian Church. The reception took place at the Outdoor Art Club. The tables were set up in long rows and table arrangements were whimsical.

The couple designed much of the wedding themselves. You can check out their wedding site www.happykoogether.com to view more photos and many of their creative insights.

The bride designed invitation, shopping totes, menu cards, favors, and her own cake. Beaux Gateaux executed their cake to perfection. And those flowers were designed by Arlene Boyle at Violetta Flowers. The photographs were captured by Ingrid at Myrtle and Marjoram.

From the bride, Kiki…
The theme was “Happy Koogether”. We’re playing the words with my husband’s last name “Koo” with “Happy Together”. My husband and I designed everything for our wedding. We printed most of the things at home and cut them ourselves. So there was a lot to do! We printed about 70 church programs, 50 menus, more than 90 custom printed favor bags (m n’ m chocolate), each of them with different names on it.

The dreamy, oh-so-dreamy flowers, the gorgeous cake, the perfect details…every element was absolutely lovely.

“This absolutely adorable couple makes me smile. This sunny color combination makes me smile. Pretty much every single element of this sweet, sweet wedding makes me smile and the dreamy images from Sarah Yates combined with the styling from the ladies at Sitting in a Tree just add to that warm and fuzzy feeling. Held in Southern California, though steeped in Mexican tradition, this is one of those weddings that will definitely inspire wedding design from now until forever.

A writer. A graphic designer. A rich Mexican heritage combined with a modern aesthetic. The desire to wow traditional family and friends in a new way. A wedding that is the perfect marriage of creativity, inspiration, culture, and design. Junia and Andres are a dream couple and dream clients. Blissfully in love and brimming over with creative juices. From their perfectly crafted DIY invitations to their hand painted cake toppers each element was crafted with care and love in a way that truly represented who they are.”

Even if you’re still waiting for the warmth of spring to hit your neck of the woods, surely you’d love to see some pretty pictures of an adorable warm weathered wedding from Australia? Of course you would!

Let’s talk about my favorite things from Kristin and Tim’s wedding: That hair piece (wow!), those gorgeous proteas (drool!), coordinating cake and paper products (genius!), and finally the oh-so-wicked pictures from the photobooth (fun!). There is no shortage of inspiration from this wedding and our bride, Kristin is ready to walk us through her planning process from her big day:

I have a background in hospitality, and Tim in graphic design and printing, so it was pretty well decided right from the start that good food, wine, photography and stationery would be priorities in our wedding! We decided on Home Hill winery as our venue (just south of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia) because we knew they do great food, great wine, and above all, because the owner Rosemary personally looks after all the weddings there to make sure everything goes just perfectly. It’s a beautiful venue, with rammed earth walls and floor to ceiling glass to give views out across the vineyard. We had originally planned to have our ceremony outside in the vineyard, but the weather was looking a bit uncertain, so on the day we made the call to hold the ceremony in the winery’s barrel room instead. In the end we were glad to have done this (even though the weather turned out ok!) – it gave a more intimate feel to the ceremony, and provided good acoustics, particularly for the classical guitar my cousin played as guests were arriving and during the ceremony.”
